Jereh Leung
Dance Practitioner
Jereh Leung is a fearless explorer of possibilities. What I admire about his work is that it defies easy definition, taking in sculptural and sonic elements. A former dancer at Frontier Danceland, he is currently an independent dance practitioner. He also works on multidisciplinary projects, like the devised plays of The Necessary Stage and Drama Box.
I remember Ngiap Heng as the photographer fastidiously taking photos at dance performances. Being an ardent supporter of and believer in dance, he would engage with the community and help with the promotion of dance events. I remember when I was helping out with photo archiving for the National Arts Council, I encountered countless photos taken by Ngiap Heng. He was and is instrumental in creating these memories of dancers and companies that have together formed dance history in Singapore.
