Jalyn Shese

Jalyn Shese is one of the veterans of the Singapore theatre scene. She used to work in the Singapore Armed Forces’ Music & Drama Company. Many local artists have come through this company. When I invited her for the shooting party, she gamely brought along her collection of spectacles. Yes, she created this spectacle, but other artists who know her would know that this is uniquely her.
Ngiap is a thinking artist who touches moments through his lens.
These spectacles remind me to view everyone equally, regardless of their different backgrounds. Like the Mandarin saying goes: 「一视同仁」.
The spectacles also display different levels of outlooks, but Ngiap captured the multifaceted look of my inner self. Thanks, Ngiap, for this long-lasting impression—this photo has been praised endlessly by many, even till now.
