Ang Shao-Wen
Conductor
Ang Shao-wen is a young conductor who first came for some profile photos. He reminded me of Simon Rattle, the former Berlin Philharmonic conductor. I hope that he will find success in his calling. There are not so many youthful, passionate folks in Singapore who pursue conducting.
“This doesn’t look like me at all.” Or more accurately: “This doesn’t feel like me at all.” That was my initial reaction to this picture.
You could put it down to the animal-stripe shadows on my face, or the slightly eerie black-and-white rendering of this half-man, half-apparition.
But perhaps it’s because our faces, to us, are more affiliation than identity. Affiliations certainly change with age.
