Ang Gey Pin

Ang Gey Pin

Theatre Practitioner/Educator

When I saw a Theatre OX (est. 1995) production years ago, I was in awe. It was a body-driven play, One Breath Left (2001), that was riveting. An unexplained rationale. Somehow, its cofounder Ang Gey Pin’s path and mine did not cross professionally. I did not know if she would say yes when I asked her to be part of the Drama Mama portraits. It was another gift to me that she agreed. She used dance and song to channel her entire being. It was like watching a shaman invoking ancient spirits. And her energy was literally boundless; I struggled to keep her in frame even though her body is small. Thank you, Gey Pin, for opening up the possibility of being.

So very thankful to Ngiap Heng for initiating this special invitation to me, among many of our arts practitioners. What a meaningful way to finally meet, professionally, through our respective crafts; through our exchanges of thoughts, reflections, and manifestation of the innermost streams of memories and aspirations . . .

So impressed by his absolute presence throughout our conversation, while snapping the moments of in-betweenness.

Such an honour to encounter a being who promptly reminded us of the precious possibilities in human exchanges.
