Alvin Chiam, an old friend, gave me my first job: to shoot publicity photographs for Drama Box. At that time, around 1998, he was still working for the Housing & Development Board. Since then, he has continued to train and gone full time into theatre. We have both come a long way. Alvin can project an imposing presence or be a playful spirit. He definitely has a wide performing range and is well respected in the theatre scene. I am glad that he is able to live off theatre instead of needing a day job.
