Ma Yanling
Dancer
Ma Yanling studied business administration at the National University of Singapore. Then, she ventured into dance with T.H.E’s second company and then went on to various artistic projects. She works as the general manager of Centre 42, a theatre development space, and contributes to the arts scene in many ways. Coming into the studio, she felt a little shy, but given a little time, she warmed up for the camera. A truly multifaceted person.
I’m usually perceived as a confident person, but really, I get awkward when I must talk about myself. You manage to nudge that shyness away for me in our interactions, offering time and space for me to emerge from my shell. Oftentimes, your curiosity challenges me to confront my discomforts. Most recently, in this shoot, you sensed that I needed to let my body speak through movement, rather than words. Thank you, Ngiap Heng, for your sensitivity and holding space for my vulnerability and expression.
Sincerely, thank you for sharing your aesthetics and points of view with me.
