In my mind there is an expected Leslie Tan, the cellist, and then there is Leslie, the surprise. Really, my Drama Mama portraits now are about conversations more than photography. We talked about continuing to learn and try new things, like his baroque cello and my drawing lessons. I asked Leslie to bring his cello for the session, and he held his partner even when he was not playing. Yes, we got some lovely photos of him playing Bach, and yes, Bach is important. But he simply sparkled as himself.
