I thought I got to know Lee Mun Wai when he was a founding member of T.H.E Dance Company (est. 2008). Later, I found pictures of him in my archives, from when he was a student at LASALLE College of the Arts. After that, we collaborated on my first dance video installation, Stealing Breath, Stopping Time (2014). Mun Wai is larger than life and moves wonderfully. Now that he has a master’s in choreography and performance from the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Germany, where he’s half-based, it will be exciting to see what new directions his work will take.
